Coutinho though chose his words carefully and reiterated that his desire was to move to Barcelona in the summer.

He's scored nine times in 13 appearances for the Reds, who demolished Spartak Moscow 7-0 yesterday to win their UEFA Champions League Grouping, and help England make history.

He did not play his first game for Liverpool until September of this season but has scored four goals in his past two games.

"Of course a lot happened in the summer but my will is always to play and do the best wherever I am - that has not changed".

It is thought Barcelona could return with an improved offer for the attacking midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January. That season, it was Luis Suarez who scored from all conceivable angles to become the official Premier League player of the season that year, and his equivalent this year in terms of goal quantity has been Egypt worldwide Mohamed Salah.

Murphy told askfans.co.uk: "With Coutinho and Liverpool, if selling him is going to give them a treasure chest to sort out the defence, I'd probably think about doing it. I do not know if there will be an offer", he said, as quoted by Sky Sports. "It was a special night due to the result and because I had the armband it was important playing for a club like Liverpool". Walcott is yet to start for the Gunners in the Premier League this season.

Speculation is sure to continue into the winter concerning Coutinho but for now the stand in skipper is still performing to his maximum, evidenced by his hat-trick versus the Russian giants on Wednesday night.

"Let's see (what we can achieve)". From where I see it, he is more comfortable inside, but the good thing about this player is that he can play in various positions. "I just do what the manager says, and I am happy to be part of the team".
