Officer Jay Williams has been serving his community for more than 14 years after joining the Knoxville police force in November 2003.

The Aryan Nations is the largest white supremacist prison gang in Tennessee, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

The officer who was shot is Jay Williams, a 14-year veteran of KPD.

Williams did not return fire, and immediately got on the radio to let dispatch know he had been shot so regional law enforcement could respond and begin the search for an armed and risky suspect.

Authorities responded to 5405 Washington Pike just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday for reports of a shooting near the Target store.

Williams was hit in the shoulder and taken to UT Medical Center. He then stopped the vehicle, got out and fired "multiple rounds" before driving away, Rausch said. Rausch said the officer did not fire his weapon.

Thankful that Officer Williams has been released from the hospital.

Ronnie Lucas Wilson is wanted to face a charge of attempted murder of a police officer.

"If you see this vehicle, if you know this individual, do not try to intervene", Rausch said.

Rausch said that enforcement agencies across the state are "very familiar" with Wilson. "Call law enforcement and let us know where he is".

KPD confirmed earlier Friday morning the auto belonging to Wilson had been located in Corryton in a wooded area of a rural area at the intersection of Emory Road and Jim Wolfe Road.
