Ben Cardin, ranking member of the Foreign Relations Committee.
Forgive my language, as it is a direct quote, but please don't forgive the president. Other lawmakers have remained noticeably silent.
Young recalls the leader of the Haitian Revolution keeping the USA and France from going to war in the late 1700s.
Others who attended the meeting have said that Trump questioned why the USA would accept immigrants from "shithole countries" like Haiti or those in Africa instead of places like Norway, whose prime minister he had met the day before. "Now, let's face it, when he calls Haiti and El Salvador and Africa a 'sh*thole places, ' a canny person usually from the right wing might say he could have said that about a white place like Moldova".
Then, Durbin said that the president began to describe immigration from Africa that would be protected under the bipartisan proposal.
Several reports have since described how Mr Trump gets "irritated" when media outlets use the lower height.
Trump denied on Friday using such derogatory language, but he was widely condemned in many African countries and in Haiti and El Salvador, and by worldwide rights organisations. That is not the interpretation from those who were in the room or by the nation, and it smacks of revisionism. They had to overcome the language barrier to succeed in this nation. They reaffirm that hateful language is unacceptable from any president, regardless of political party.
Immigration legislation has become time-sensitive because when Trump ended the DACA program in September he gave Congress six months to come up with a legislative solution before announcing that deportations would begin.
A number of other African leaders, including from Uganda, South Africa and Botswana, have also reacted angrily to Trump's latest controversial remarks. As a candidate, he labeled immigrants from Mexico as criminals and rapists, and he called for a ban on all Muslims entering the country.
Amid questions about Trump's fitness for office, no psychiatric tests are planned, but previous tests include neurological, motor tests.
"We would not deign to make comments as derogatory as that about any country that has any kind of socio-economic or other difficulties", Duarte said, adding that much like their African counterparts, millions of USA citizens were affected by problems such as unemployment.
Among his objections, Mr Trump said the U.S. "would be forced to take large numbers of people from high crime countries which are doing badly".
African countries are not the sh-hole countries. The President wants funding for his election promise of building a wall on the U.S.'s southern border as part of any legislation on immigration reform.
