A 54-year-old man who was found with stab injuries at the property on Valley View was arrested in connection with the incident.

Tucked up with her pink fairy pyjamas on and munching on pizza, the eight-year-old was snapped by dad Bill Billingham who remains in custody on suspicion of her murder.

He is now in a steady condition and will be addressed at the appropriate time. I have a granddaughter who's eight and it made me think of her.

United Kingdom national newspapers reported the girl was the niece of one of the trainers on SAS Who Dares Wins show on Channel 4, and that the arrested man is his brother.

Last night, police were at the home of Mylee's mother, Tracey Taundry, which is just minutes away from the scene of the crime.

The little girl was rushed to hospital suffering from knife wounds on Saturday evening, but medics were unable to save her and she died shortly after arriving.

Police vans, watch autos and officers were still at the scene on Valley View at the beginning of today, fighting substantial snow. "I went to converse with her and she stated, 'They wounded my infant".

Distraught mum Tracey was heard screaming that her little girl had been stabbed as neighbours tried to comfort her on Saturday.

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from the homicide unit, said: 'We are treating this as a domestic incident and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the child's death. "She was in shock and she couldn't say anything else".

Mr Greatrex said a man had lived there for the past six months after the previous occupier, a woman, had died.

'I simply don't see how it's happened'.

Brownhills councillor Ken Ferguson said: "It's devastating news". I'm shell stunned to be straightforward.

'We thought it was a medication strike'.

Another family member said: "We have hardly slept and are just trying to understand and process what has happened".

"We still don't know exactly what has took (sic) place at this point we are truly devastated".
