Pence, who is using his visit to South Korea to underscore the Trump administration's policy of maximum pressure on the North, has publicly and repeatedly warned Seoul not to let down its guard to a North Korean charm offensive.

In a tweet afterwards Pence said, "I left today's Colts game because President Trump and I will no dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem".

After arriving at the South's ultramodern Incheon International Airport- the North's flagship airline is subject to sanctions - she traveled to Pyeongchang for the opening ceremony, where the North and South Korean athletes marched together behind a blue-and-white "unification" flag for the first time in more than a decade.

During the meeting, the DPRK leader's younger sister delivered Kim Jong Un's invitation for President Moon to visit Pyongyang at Moon's convenient time. That pledge from Moon gave Pence the necessary assurance for the agree to engage with North Korea in post-Olympics talks, the Post reported. The Olympic Games have become a striking example of the two Koreas putting politics aside.

After meeting with Moon on Friday, Pence reiterated the United States' stance: North Korea must "put denuclearization on the table and take concrete steps with the world community to dismantle, permanently and irreversibly, their nuclear and ballistic missile programs..." He also suggested that North Korea should engage in talks with the United States.

What did seem clear was that, deliberately or not, the North Korean government had managed to edge its way onto center stage during the South's biggest global moment in years.

"Always stay healthy and please come and visit Pyongyang with President Moon", Kim Yo Jong told South Korea's First Lady Kim Jung-sook after the show ended.

"We don't want to repeat the mistakes of the past".

But there was no mention of the North Korean nuclear issue or joint U.S. It warned against agreeing to talks before North Korea scrapped its nuclear program, saying it would only "benefit the enemy".

The women's ice hockey team welcomed 12 North Korean players onto the roster for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in a surprising move.

He was seen avoiding direct contact with Kim Yo-jong and other members of the North Korean delegation in PyeongChang.

"Under a strong position for denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, Korea will faithfully implement the worldwide sanctions on North Korea, while also adhering to the principle of resolution through peaceful means", the statement said.
