HBO Nabs Limited Series The Undoing Starring Nicole Kidman

Tuesday, 13 Mar, 2018

Big Little Lies actor and executive producer Nicole Kidman is reuniting with the show's creator, David E. Kelley, for the limited series THE UNDOING at HBO.

Based on Jean Hanff Korelitz's novel You Should Have Known, the show will star Kidman as Grace Sachs, a successful New York City therapist whose life seems picture-perfect: A first book on its way, a devoted husband, and a young son in an elite Manhattan private school. Check! Much like her Big Little Lies costar Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman is now developing one of your favorite recent books. Bruna Papandrea will executive produce for Made Up Stories. Left to pick up the pieces after the "very public disaster", Grace "must dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself" - and face the horror she feels in knowing she failed to heed her own warnings.

However, the weeks before her book release, her world turns upside down with a violent death, missing husband and awful chain of revelations.

"David has created another propulsive series with a fascinating, complicated female role at its center", said Kidman. "I'm excited and honored to continue collaborating with HBO and David E. Kelley", she said. The actress won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award for her performance.

A search for a director for the miniseries is underway.

Papandrea's Made Up Stories produced in its first-year Jennifer Kent's The Nightingale, Abe Forsythe's Little Monsters (starring Lupita Nyong'o and Josh Gad) and the TNT pilot Deadlier Than The Male written by Harriet Warner and directed by Caméra d'Or victor Houda Benyamina.

Check, and congratulations, you've completed the Roles I'd Like To See Nicole Kidman Play scorecard.

The Undoing comes shortly after Hulu edged HBO - among other high-profile outlets - for rights to Reese Witherspoon starrer Little Fires Everywhere.

Kelley is repped by CAA and attorney Michael Gendler.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has ordered The Undoing straight to series. The adaptation was written by David E. Kelley.
