Everything new in Nintendo Switch system update 5.0.0

The new update brings some minor changes and some new features.

If we are to believe the data mining findings from the series of tweets below it seems that Nintendo is intending to release a new hardware revision of the Nintendo switch as the data mine reveals a new SoC that could pave the foundation for a New Nintendo Switch console development. The friend suggestions are based on the Facebook and Twitter accounts that are linked to the Nintendo Account. More than 20 new avatars are available, from Arms and the Kirby games.

With version 5.0, digital purchases made on PC or smartphones and tablets will now begin downloading sooner than they did so previously. This will help keep the Parental Controls PIN private. Captured videos in the Album will be restricted by Parental Controls as well. Specific games can be added to a "whitelist" as well, bypassing the restricted settings. What makes this interesting is that Nintendo didn't mention this controller update in the Switch 5.0.0 firmware patch notes; an odd thing to omit, if you ask me.

To download the latest Switch firmware, head over to the console's "Settings" menu, then select 'System, ' and finally, 'System Update'.

Nintendo says that in most cases the Nintendo Switch console will automatically detect that a new version is available and download it when it has access to the internet.

Given the code name Mariko, now the intentions of the SoC Revision is yet to come to light and we doubt Nintendo will ever comment on it, so we will have to wait for further news or updates on the findings, perhaps at a future show?
