Porzingis says he's staying out of Knicks' coaching search

Since being selected by the Knicks No. 4 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, Porzingis is now looking at his fourth head coach in four seasons with New York: Derek Fisher, Kurt Rambis, Jeff Hornacek, and whoever the Knicks decide to hire next. "I'd like to finish what I started".

"I interviewed with [then team president] Phil [Jackson] and [then general manager] Steve Mills; we had a good couple days together".

All-Star forward Kristaps Porzingis says he doesn't need to have any input on the New York Knicks' coaching search.

On Thursday, it was reported that Hornacek was sacked from his coaching position after finishing 60-104 in two seasons.

"I don't want to hide the fact I'd love to be back, " Woodson told Marc Berman of The Post. Porzingis reiterated Saturday that he wants to stay in NY long term.

"That's [management's] job. They're going to do their part and I'm going to do my part". I want it to be mutual. "I'm sure the front office, they will make the right decisions and build something that can go a long way", Porzingis said.

Among the reported candidates are Villanova's Jay Wright, former Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale and former Cavaliers coach David Blatt.

After two years as head coach of the Cavaliers, Blatt left the National Basketball Association and the United States to take over as coach of Turkish team Darüşşafaka in 2016.

The news of KP's injury sent shockwaves not only through NY but throughout the basketball world, as one of the league's brightest young stars would be forced to make a lengthy and tedious recovery - one that doesn't always guarantee a successful return.
