Cardi B, Drake, Kendrick Lamar among 2018 Billboard Music Awards nominees

The nominations for the 2018 Billboard Music Awards are here and as expected, the artists whose music dominates the radio airwaves are the ones who lead with the most nominations-meaning Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Cardi B. are in the lead.

In addition to Cardi B, other top female nominees include Taylor Swift with 5 and Camila Cabello with 4 nominations.

The leading trio will also compete for Top Selling Album, with the British singer's ÷ (divide) chosen alongside the US popstar's latest offering Reputation and the rapper's universally acclaimed record DAMN.

Swift's Reputation and Lamar's DAMN are nominated for Top Selling Album alongside Beautiful Trauma from Pink, Divide from Sheeran and From A Room: Volume 1 from Chris Stapleton.

Linkin Park received a nomination for Best Rock Artist following the death of singer Chester Bennington last July.

Cardi B, Cabello, 21 Savage, Khalid and Kodak Black meanwhile have been nominated for Top New Artist.

Lamar, Mars and Sheeran received nominations for Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Hot 100 Song and Top Songs Sales Artist, among others. Tracks by Kane Brown, Sam Hunt, Dustin Lynch and Brett Young are also competing for the prize.

The 2018 Billboard Music Awards ceremony airs May 20 on NBC. It will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
