National Weather Service Confirms Tornadoes, Recovery Underway

Sunday's ten-inch snow totals in Duluth broke the 9.7-inch all-time record for April 15th according to the National Weather Service. The tornado dissipated roughly 1/4 mile east of CR 215. The damage forced officials to cancel classes at all schools in Guilford County.

The weather service in SC said an EF-0 tornado hit Lexington and an EF-1 hit Irmo.

An EF-2 tornadoe tore through a MS neighborhooed, its 115 mile and hour winds sheering the roof off at least one house.

Sunday's storms did bring a rotating storm into Augusta county but there was no tornado.

A survey team from the National Weather Service in Blacksburg investigated that damage to determine the wind speeds within the tornado and the length of its track, but had yet to issue a final report as of Monday evening.

Not counting Radford, the New River Valley had 1,472 customer outages as of 8:31 p.m., according to Appalachian Power. They found damage consistent with an EF-1 tornado with winds of 105 miles per hour.

As storms exited Arkansas, colder weather entered the state.

Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency Monday morning to aid state and local response to Sunday night's storms.

"We know that we have many structures that have been damaged", Westmoreland said.

Straight-line wind damage was found in Mountain Home, located in Baxter County. On top of the tornadoes we also had over 150 reports of large hail and thunderstorm wind damage as well. They have confirmed an EF-1 tornado and an EF-0 so far in East Texas.

The line of storms did cause minor damage across the Lowcountry and knocked out power to as many as 4,500 earlier in the day.
