Their latest triumph, however, has come with much more to spare after West Brom's victory over Manchester United on Sunday ensured the job was completed with five games remaining.

Aguero, who joined City in 2011, became City's record goalscorer earlier in the campaign and now has 199 strikes for the club.

With Premier League title wrapped up and City's Champions League campaign ended by Liverpool, Aguero will not be rushed back on the field.

'This is my third title with City and it's just a relief not to have to wait the final day this time, ' he said. Aguero told the City website.

As good as Agüero has been, I don't think he will be a certain starter next season.

Aguero missed Manchester City's 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday due to a knee injury and Guardiola claims he doesn't know for how long the Argentine forward will be out of action.

Manchester City and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has undergone minor knee surgery and will seemingly struggle to return in time for any of his side's final five matches of the season.

Having seen City win the Premier League with five games to spare at the weekend, the 29-year-old chose to have the operation immediately in order to give him enough time to recover ahead of the tournament. "Let's enjoy the moment together with our fans and finish strongly".
