Lando: A Star Wars Story in development at Lucasfilm? Well, not quite

Wednesday, 16 May, 2018

"Following the publication of our article Lucasfilm informs us that there would have been a misunderstanding between our journalist and Kathleen Kennedy", the publication wrote.

Kennedy added, according to Première, that there are more stories to be told around Han Solo and Chewbacca, but that "Lando will be next". It is the second in a series of planned standalone "Star Wars" movies meant to exist outside the main trilogies. This movie has Han Solo and Chewbacca and Qi'ra and all sort of other characters in it, but it's really Lando's film.

Lucasfilm might be planning a Lando Calrissian spin-off soon. The decision to explore Lando's story is the right one, and not a surprising one.

"Representatives later confirmed the mistranslation to i09, with the rep stating "[Kennedy] said it's something she'd like to do one day in the future".

How much do you trust Kathleen Kennedy's pronouncements about the future of Star Wars?

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Well, it's not impossible that Lando's film could be in 2020, with Obi-Wan's standalone following in 2021, as ComicBook also acknowledges.

However, Lucasfilm told io9 shortly after this quote started making the rounds online that the quote in question from the French magazine was not translated correctly.

I've literally not seen the movie yet so I don't know about the amount of Lando within, but I assume there's a lot yet never enough, if you know what I mean.

Donald Glover's month keeps getting better.

We're just happy that we probably haven't seen the last of Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian.
