His remarks come a day after he cancelled a planned summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un amid aggressive language from that country.

Trump spoke to 1,042 newly commissioned ensigns and second lieutenants.

"You are warriors, you are champions, and you will lead us only to victory", Trump told the graduates.

"We know that the best way to prevent war is to be fully prepared for war and hopefully we never have to use all of this attractive new powerful new equipment", Trump said.

Mr. Trump said he was given the option of leaving immediately after the ceremony, or staying to shake hands with all the graduates.

On Twitter Friday, Trump said he looks "forward to being with some of the greatest people on earth!"

Trump culminated the section of his address with a simple declaration: "America is back".
