Anthony Bourdain's mother Gladys is speaking about the tragic death of her son after he died in an apparent suicide earlier this week.

Rocquigny said toxicology tests were being carried out on Bourdain's body, including urine tests, to see if the 61-year-old American took any medications or other drugs, in an effort to help his family understand if anything led him to kill himself.

Before he got into television, he worked as a chef at the NY restaurant. "He was that friend we watched and we journeyed with to parts unknown".

"Although they're separated, she'll be in charge of whatever happens", she said. He told Daily Life in a 2012 interview, "I didn't value my own life and acted accordingly".

"There are many chefs", he said, "that never recognize the hard work of the Hispanics". "It's a shame I have to live with", he said.

While in New York, Ms Hagerty met with the chef and a year later, published 100 of her reviews in a book that Bourdain edited.

The chef used a belt to hang himself.

CNN, which aired the series, reported that the cause of his death was suicide. He taught us about food - but more importantly, about its ability to bring us together. A few days later, chef and food storyteller Anthony Bourdain was found in his hotel room in France unresponsive, also suicide. I looked at him in the eyes and said, this is something we will always be thankful for, Tony. "His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generousity knew no bounds", the Italian actress wrote. Bourdain traveled to Jamaica to talk food, agriculture, music, the beach and more. She followed up by saying, " I've been walking around all day with this empty pit in my stomach". "I really got close to him after the birth of my daughter", she said. He told me that the greatest Brazilian chefs came from Minas Gerais, my home state. He went on to say that "divorce was just the work thing in the world: it was f**king very bad".

Nearly three in four Americans who have a psychiatric illness when they took their own lives were not receiving treatment at the time of the death. "I've lost a dear friend today, and we mourn with the rest of the world", Wang wrote about the celebrity chef and television host.
