Authorities started searching for the victim's body when a passerby reported that he had seen the woman walking two dogs and then noticed the pets alone, barking near the lake at Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park.

Authorities confirmed Saturday morning that they had found the remains of a woman killed by an alligator in Davie, Florida.

When the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission performed a necropsy on the reptile, they found Matsuki's arm, identified by a tattoo, in the gator's stomach, officials said. He says last week's deadly attack is disturbing, and a good reminder about alligator awareness.

One of the animals had a fresh wound, WSVN said.

A man told detectives that he saw Matsuki walking her dogs in the park.

A Florida woman is believed to be dead after an alligator attack in Davie, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

"A 12-foot, 6-inch alligator was removed from the lake by an FWC-contracted trapper".

Her body was recovered the next day. Broward County Animal Control and Adoption Agency said that they had taken custody of the dogs.

"We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Shizuka Matsuki". "We will be conducting a thorough investigation into this incident".

Some neighbors had complained earlier about the alligators at the park, the Sun Sentinel said. According to the Florida state wildlife commission, the likelihood of a Florida resident being seriously injured during an unprovoked alligator incident is roughly one in 3.2m.

Residents who live in the area told Local 10 News that a gator is known to roam the lakes in the park.

Before Matsuki's death, the most recent fatality was in June 2016, when a Nebraska boy whose family was visiting the Walt Disney World Resort was snatched by an alligator and pulled into a lake at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
